YEAR IN REARVIEW 2023

𝘖𝘜𝘙 𝘉𝘐𝘎𝘎𝘌𝘚𝘛 𝘠𝘌𝘈𝘙 𝘠𝘌𝘛!

Where do we start? We’d like to start off with thanking everyone in the club, without you all we wouldn't have such an active and friendly community that a lot of us call home! And also sorry for the very lengthy post

SQUARE SOCIETY

We have had a tremendous year this year at Square Society, we relaunched our website early in 2023 along with new stickers and merch which has helped us shape ourselves for 2024 and the years going forward, the new website should hopefully be the last time we'll have to close it for a while. There's some big updates we've applied to it as well as give it a bit of a facelift, We can confirm that you'll be able to purchase tickets for Jap Show & Jap Show Finale direct from the website without having to message ourselves for any codes or how to pay (something we've always wanted to have the ability to do and now we finally have it!), you'll also be able to purchase other event tickets from the website (you'll need the event passwords (if required) which will take you the corresponding event website). We’re aiming to have the website live by mid-January with the store going live in early-February.

FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

Since the start of the year, we've taken in an additional 198 members, it's not something we would normally talk about but for ourself personally it's a pretty big achievement for us! Since the start of the year we've had 825 posts made to the group, 4,075 comments made and 10,669 reactions made to posts (like, heart, care, etc). We're always about quality over quantity but that is a substantial amount of new members and numbers for us, making this year the most active year on the group! Thank you so much, keep up the incredible work!

EVENTS

2023 for us will go down in our history books for the biggest club stands that we've ever had! Japfest was our first official big event of the year and that tallied up to 16 cars in total, making that the biggest stand we've ever had at Japfest and the biggest stand we've ever had... Until Jap Show came along. Our club stand for Jap Show completely wiped the floor in regards to Japfest, we ended up with a total of 33 cars for our club stand which is now the all-time high for our club stands! We still went on to have large club stands for JDM Combe, Simply Japanese & Jap Show Finale. We had some gaps to fill where we didn't have any events to attend so we hosted some extra events ourselves, we hosted a day out in Portsmouth as our Beach & Boxes event and then a few of us met at Caffeine & Machine for their Weird & The Wonderful event. Let's just say that these events have gave us a few ideas for 2024! We have something special planned for our first northern event (something we've been asked a lot to do is a more northern event).

2024 - WHAT'S NEXT?

With 2024 just around the corner, we honestly cannot wait to start this new year! We have some very ambitious goals for the club that we want to achieve, we're entering our 7th year as a car club and there isn't anyone else we would want to celebrate it with other than you guys (& girls!). We have some brand-new designs for merch and stickers which will launch when the store goes live (we'll have more on this as we get closer and everything is finalised). We’re planning on getting us some giant flags to take to the shows with us as well (we'll be open to contributions once we've got the design and final figure sorted) for 2024. We’re hoping to have more stickers than merch next year as well, including more colour options also. If there's anything you'd like to see on our store then please let me know!

NEW ADMINS

We're entering 2024 with 2 new admins on the Square Society team, we have Stuart Shelley & Colm O Keeffe. Both contribute to the club massively and make vital members for the admin team! Stuart has been appointed as our Social Media Manager and is in charge of our Instagram page, he's now settled in and will be solely posting members cars on our Instagram (so make sure to comment on our Instagram post or pop him a message on the club's Instagram account to be featured) whilst we'll be posting the announcements to Instagram.

Colm O Keeffe is our brand-new Ireland Admin and is taking full control of our Ireland division, building up our reputation just across the pond! He's also going to be posting some great content to our blog on the club's website as well, including How-To import items from Japan, tours of his workshop and the cars he imports for a living and even about his visits to Japan!

PARTNERS

We're expanding on our amazing list of partners for 2024, We would like to welcome Noel O'Keeffee Auto Developments, ToyoBoyo トヨボヨ & JDMSpark Automotive to the Square Society family. You'll be able to catch up and read up on our partners on our brand-new Square Hub page, launching soon on https://squaresociety.co.uk!

THANK YOU!

Feel free to skip this section as we’re just solely saying my big thank you. We would like to thank:

  • Everyone for being a part of the club this year and from taking us from strength to strength! Whether that's just commenting on posts or coming out to the shows/events with us, it's each and every one of you that makes our club what it is, the UK's ultimate square car club!

  • Our club partners, Toyota bB UK, Honda S-MX Owners Club, Honda Stepwagon Owners Club UK, for joining us in 2023 at the shows.

  • Des and his team at the Too Fast Too Filling Cafe in Andover, for allowing us to host our famous Breakfast And Boxes events, without Des and his team, we probably wouldn't have a home to host our events at!

  • Adam Brockbank (@geared_up_photography on Instagram) for snapping up our memorable moments of 2023 (and for resending me all the photos he's taken this year when my computer wiped all my files).

  • Andrew Cooper & Harvey Cooper for their spotting skills when their both out and about! And for the relentless tags and mentions on Instagram! Keep up the good work! We'll sort you something out in the new year!

  • To last but not least, the Square Society Admin Team for helping me run the group and everything they do! Thank you to Emily Griffiths, Tom Ralph, Adam Brockbank, Stuart Shelley, Colm O Keeffe, Guy Gladstone & Joe Shepherd.

  • We could go on and on about who to thank but we think we’ll probably going to end up missing someone out so we would just like to say, thank you everyone! Thank you for everything! This has been one hell of a year!

We look forward to spending 2024 with all of you!

AND, AS ALWAYS...

STAY SAFE!

STAY SQUARE!
